What goes into the rankings
Each defender gets a projected stat line — snaps, solo and assisted tackles, sacks, tackles for loss, quarterback hits, interceptions, passes defensed and forced fumbles. Playing time comes first, and each stat is weighted by how repeatable it actually is season to season: tackles are quite predictable, sacks reasonably so for linemen, and turnovers largely aren’t, so we’re careful not to project them as though they were. Prior production, depth charts and role changes, the defense a player plays in, coaching and scheme turnover, and injury timelines feed every rebuild.
Why the public board is positional
IDP is where these two settings swing the hardest.
Start with your lineup. A league starting two defenders and one starting eleven are barely the same game, and required minimums at each family — a lineman slot, two linebackers, a defensive back — decide how deep you actually need to go. That’s what sets replacement level, and with league size on top of it, a linebacker’s worth relative to an edge rusher can differ enormously between two leagues holding the same players.
Then scoring. A tackle-heavy league can make off-ball linebackers the most valuable non-quarterbacks on your roster; a sack-heavy league gives that spot to edge rushers. Big-play bonuses and premiums for turnovers or tackles for loss tilt it further.
We rank all five true positions separately, since a coverage cornerback, a box safety and a defensive tackle score in genuinely different ways that a combined DL or DB list tends to blur.
